*Unlock Your Potential*Reading Music is NOT Required PRACTICAL MUSIC THEORY, NO NONSENSE
When I started playing guitar nearly twelve years ago, I soon realized that if I was ever going to realize my full potential, I needed to learn music theory. At the time, the only way for me to learn theory was from a classical guitar teacher. I signed up for lessons, hoping to learn theory, and knowing I would have to tolerate the classical techniques. I learned to read music, and how to properly pluck a nylon string, but I still didn't understand theory. I took it upon myself to understand music theory and develop a system that made sense to me. After many long hours of study and several headaches, I finally got it. What I found was that all of the classical terminology and notation actually serves to make the subject much more difficult than it really is. Music theory is actually very simple. The purpose of these pages is to convey this knowledge to you. There are many excellent resources for finding specific scales and chords. My goal is to give you a context from which to use them. Having a good knowledge of theory has made a great difference in my playing and writing, and I hope I can help you to enjoy the same. Within these pages you will learn:
